In a strong push towards sustainability and energy efficiency, Singapore is expanding its Climate Friendly Households Programme (CFHP) in 2025. From April 15 onwards, HDB households and, for the first time, private residential households will be eligible for Climate Vouchers worth up to S$400. This move builds on earlier efforts and reflects the government’s growing commitment to combat climate change while supporting citizens in managing household utility costs.
A Greener, More Inclusive Initiative
Originally launched in November 2020, the CFHP initially targeted only 1-, 2-, and 3-room HDB flats. In 2024, the programme was extended to cover all HDB households across Singapore. Now, the latest phase further broadens its reach by including private residential households, making the scheme accessible to nearly 90 percent of the population. By encouraging more residents to adopt sustainable appliances, the government aims to create a lasting cultural shift towards environmentally responsible living.
What the Vouchers Cover
Under the expanded programme, households can use the vouchers to purchase a wide variety of energy- and water-efficient products. These include refrigerators, LED lights, air-conditioners, washing machines, water closets, and even heat pump water heaters. By choosing these appliances, residents can reduce their electricity and water consumption, which not only helps the environment but also cuts down on monthly bills. The goal is to make green living a practical and attractive option for all.
Simple and Streamlined Redemption Process

Accessing the Climate Vouchers is a simple digital process. Eligible households can claim them by logging into the RedeemSG portal using their Singpass account. Once claimed, vouchers in denominations of S$2, S$5, S$10, and S$50 will be sent via SMS, allowing for easy use and sharing among household members. These digital vouchers can be presented at participating retailers along with proof of residence and are valid until December 31, 2027.
A Boost in 2025, More Money, More Impact
From April 15, 2025, all eligible HDB households will receive an additional S$100 in vouchers, raising their total benefit to S$400. In a significant first, Singapore Citizen households living in private properties will also be entitled to the same amount. This substantial increase not only reflects a greater financial incentive but also emphasizes the urgency of collective climate action. By extending these benefits more widely, the government ensures that the vast majority of residents can participate in the country’s environmental goals.
Widespread Retail Support
A diverse network of retailers has joined the programme, ensuring that residents have convenient access to approved eco-friendly products. From major electronics stores to local supermarkets and specialized shops dealing in energy-saving fixtures, consumers will have plenty of options. The wide availability of eligible appliances ensures that every household can make meaningful upgrades without difficulty.
A National Step Toward Sustainable Living
Singapore’s continued expansion of the Climate Vouchers scheme is more than a practical solution for reducing utility bills-it’s a national call to embrace sustainable living. By providing financial support and simplifying the process of going green, the government empowers citizens to take responsibility for their environmental impact. The 2025 enhancements to the CFHP show a clear intention: to align individual lifestyle choices with national climate targets, creating a more eco-conscious and resilient society for the future.
